
CMI supports the peaceful settlement of the Transdniestrian conflict. CMI is supporting the official confidence-building measures (CBMs) in Moldova-Transdniestria with a special focus on supporting socioeconomic cooperation between the sides by building capacity and activating independent and civil society expertise as an input and in support of the CBMs.
CMI aims at creating ongoing mechanisms for independent expertise, including empirical analysis and policy recommendations, to be fed into the official process.CMI’s activities are part of a long term process to improve the quality, quantity and relevance of the confidence building measures and joint socioeconomic initiatives developed by the official Working Groups.
CMI’s activities in Moldova-Transdniestria are currently funded by the German Foreign Service directly and through project zivik of the Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations (ifa) and by the Support to Confidence Building Measures Project which is in turn funded by the European Union and co-funded and implemented by UNDP Moldova.
