President Ahtisaari receives the Hans J. Morgenthau Award

President Martti Ahtisaari will be awarded with the Hans J. Morgenthau Award of the National Committee on American Foreign Policy. The ceremony takes place on 5 March 2013 in New York.

The award commemorates the contributions made by Professor Morgenthau to the theory and practice of American Foreign Policy. It is presented to an individual whose intellectual attainments and practical contributions to American foreign policy or to international peace mediation and conflict resolution have been judged exemplary in the tradition of Professor Morgenthau.

President Ahtisaari is honored with the award due to his extraordinary accomplishments and legacy in helping the international community take concrete and effective steps in preventive diplomacy, peacemaking and post-conflict statebuilding.
