CMI is seeking a new Executive Director. The current Executive Director Mr. Kalle Liesinen has informed CMI’s Board of Directors that he will leave his post as of 1st of June. He will remain engaged in CMI’s activities also in the future. The organization founded by President Martti Ahtisaari has received attention in 2008 in conjunction with the UNESCO and Nobel Peace Prizes awarded to President Ahtisaari.
Crisis Management Initiative is an international organization with a Finnish background. CMI was founded by President Ahtisaari in 2000 after he completed his term as the President of the Republic of Finland. The organization has become known in public e.g. through the Helsinki-process, Aceh peace negotiations and a series of meetings held in Finland focusing on Iraq. CMI is widely known in expert circles for its research and development contributions, notably for the European Union, in the fields of peace-building and crisis management.
