The publication of the report of KIC has been delayed until end of April

PRESS RELEASE

Helsinki, April 01, 2011

The publication of the report of the Kyrgyzstan Inquiry Commission, headed by Mr. Kimmo Kiljunen, has been delayed due to the technical reasons related to the Russian translation of the report.

The Independent International Commission of Inquiry into the events in the Southern part of the Kyrgyz Republic (Kyrgyzstan Inquiry Commission) has been mandated by the President of the Kyrgyz Republic to explore the facts and circumstances, causes and aftermath of the tragic events of June 2010 in the South of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The Russian translation of the Kyrgyzstan Inquiry Commission report has been finalized and forwarded to the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic on April 01, 2011. The English version of the report has been transmitted to the Kyrgyz Government earlier, on February 26, 2011.

The Kyrgyzstan Inquiry Commission expects that the Kyrgyz Government will make its comments on the report within three weeks. It should be noted that the Government will not change the substance of the report, but will give its opinion and make comments that will be added as an Annex to the report.

It is expected that the report, both in the English and Russian languages, together with the comments from the Kyrgyz Government, will be published by the end of April or beginning of May 2011.
