Matthias Wevelsiep - Adviser - ICT for State-building
Matthias Wevelsiep works as Adviser on ICT for State-building. He has the conceptual and implementation oversight of the Governance out of a Box initiative, including the Mobile Birth Registration project in Liberia. He is also advising CMI on the global development of ICT solutions in the fields of conflict resolution, mediation and peace building, and assisting CMI in using relevant ICT tools in its work.
Prior to joining CMI, Mr Wevelsiep gained extensive experience in international development cooperation from Africa, Asia and the Americas. He has worked with the University of Helsinki, Plan Finland and Nokia on collaborative technologies for social change. His areas of expertise include ICT and social media in relation to human rights and poverty. He has worked extensively with NGOs, institutional and corporate donors and has managed several international multi-stakeholder partnerships.
Matthias Wevelsiep holds a Masters Degree in Journalism from the University of Dortmund (Germany), a Minor Degree on Psychology and a Certificate from Hagen University (Germany) in peace and democracy.
